There are quite a few people in the industry and at NASA who would love to invite China onto ISS and as a partner in other space projects.
But China has a focus that seems to be "made in China" right now.
Being the third country into space has given them quite a bit of media attention. Even a small correction in orbit has generated something like a hundred article about it. We sure can't say the same for the hundreds of thousands of small adjustment to orbit Shuttles have made over the 30 some odd years that have past.
How many Chinese take-out jokes have been headlines these last few days? Things we no longer are interested in are new to Chinese and the world again. Nie Haisheng celebrated a birthday in the Shenzhou 6 spacecraft and it was a big deal! People want to know what they are eating and how pure the water is they're drinking!
It's like folks with their first child and how amazed they're at the kids every movement.
I would like to see a join use of space over some sort of race.
