C&E was my favorite when I was at ISU in Strasbourg. There were a couple of others that were good as well.
After over ten years of regularly paying full price for SciAm I finally became a subscriber. I got tired of being seen at Barnes & Noble in the same magazine section as Fortean Times and Astrology Monthly.
The worst was the local newspaper, the Dallas Morning News. They used to have a well-regarded "Science and Discovery" spread in the Living section every week. Then they fired the main writer and moved it to the A section of the Sunday paper, buried about 13-20 pages in where it quickly shrunk to half a page or less. The science writer I knew from the Zero-G flight bolted to Atlanta to work for Nature magazine. Some weeks it just isn't there.
Meanwhile, the six page Religion continues to be a regular part of the Saturday paper.
