The W situation is just a subplot of the larger events discussed by the two history scholars in my two previous posts. I think Ferguson is probably right. People are going to be shocked by how fast things unravel. I think of the grants and contracts, supporting the work of many on this forum, suddenly shrivelling--not pleasant.
