I think you'll be seeing Bork/Thomas clone as the next choice.

While it was ultimately the lack of republican support and not democrat demonizing that killed her nomination, I think you will now see Bush give the Republicans what they asked for: A truely right-wing (controversial) pick. We'll see if the Senators can muster the courage needed to support a tough pick or not...My guess is that they ultimately will duck and cover, thus inferiorating the right wing even more than they would have otherwise. But so be it. I'm sick of the republicans in the Senate (McCain, Spector, etc...) negotiating away their majority.

In the 2006 and 2008 elections, the Republican base may in fact turn on this bunch of cowards.

I'm sure the Democrats will be thrilled!

The Republican Senator's cowardice on the Miers pick has really put the ball in their court on the next pick.

Were I Bush, I'd find the farthest right pick I could find for the next nomination. hey, it might even take attention away from the Rove/Libby/cheney scandel.
