re: Humanity has almost never been at peace

I agree Larry. I believe there are less conflicts going on across the Earth than ever before in human history, even when you include the population growth factor.

Like you said, in the past we just didn’t here about them all. But with today’s technology in this small world, we know about every conflict going on.

Look at the glob as a whole an you’ll see most of it is at peace. Most countries settle their disputes without conflicts.

I still believe in the UN, but it needs to be fixed. It needs its own checks and balances so that the Oil for Food scandal doesn’t happen again. Its main goal needs to be a no tolerance policy towards any nation who violates basic human right. Be it the Middle East, North Korea, or the Sudan, the UN need to do whatever it takes to oust any leader violating human rights. Right now I don’t think the UN has the stomach to do this, but if we want all wars to end and all humans across the globe to live in peace, this must be done.

With a strong UN backed by the resolve of most countries on the Earth, all humans can have their basic human rights. With a strong UN, all tyrants and dictators who abuse and enslave their own people could be toppled. With a strong UN, and the pressure of the world, any conflict could be swift and precise. Perhaps then, wars could be a thing of the past.
