DNA is made from RNA

RNA is produced by ribosomes. During mitosis, ribosomes replicate RNA to create the DNA strands for the new cells. We really haven't got a clue as to how outside stimuli affect this production process. Once we have a better understaning of the interactions of ribosomes with the cytoplasmic environment, we'll be able say one way or another if it can affect DNA replication.
