Current Events » in reply to Justice Alito will be a great addition to the Supremo court.

Commentary

I have no doubt Mr. Alito is a competent jurist. Unlike Harriet Miers, he possesses the kind of on-the-job experience necessary for a Supreme Court justice.

That being said, if he opposes the long-standing precedent set in Roe vs Wade, I will oppose his candicacy. Like most Americans, I have strong feelings about a woman's right to choose. Likewise, I have strong feelings about the rights of consenting adults to choose their legal partners regardless of gender and I would be deeply concerned if Mr. Alito's appointment would threaten these rights. On another front, I have deep concerns that a religious conservative on the court would allow the teaching of creationism and "intelligent design" in our public schools.

You obviously feel differently and I respect that, but I feel strongly enough on these issues to vigorously oppose Mr. Alito's appointment if he is as conservative in ideology as I think he may be.
