Find me decent, attractive, affordable, easy-care dresses with pockets and I will wear them. I need places to keep small things while I'm working, and my keys need to be with me always. I need my hands, and a bag doesn't work. I've tried it.
The only dresses with pockets are like sacks, with a couple of exceptions. I found one or two styles of dresses that are practical and flattering and simple, and that have patch pockets that will hold more than a button. They're now too old and worn for me to wear, but I've kept them against the day I can afford to have them dismembered by someone who can sew, and made into many, many models of the same thing. Different fabrics, different length sleeves, but same dresses.
You guys have suits. You always have pockets.
Also: I suggest kilts in a northern climate for fuller appreciation of dresses in winter.
So I'm wearing slacks. They have pockets a lot more often than dresses. Or skirts.
