Yeah, but by who?

If you read some of the detailed reports on the leadership and makeup of the insurgency and terrorists, you might draw a different conclusion.

Question:

If you were an American general in WWII, and you had heard that the guy who was driving a German general's jeep for him a few weeks ago was promoted to general after the first general was killed, what would you think?

There's a near-limitless supply of idiots and drugged illiterates to carry bombs and drive exploding vehicles. Leadership and brains, which has been hit hard in recent months, is not so easy.

One has to be careful of how the insurgency, mostly Sunnis and Baathists looking to get their country back, and Zarqawi's terrorist groups, are "mushed together" in these arguments.

This is usually seen when someone says foreign fighters are a small part of the "insurgency." While this is true for the Sunnis and Baathists, foreign fighters are a very large percentage of the lethal terrorist activity, as the article you link to mentions.

I've also noticed a tendency to ignore what the Iraqi army has done in recent months, too.
