I just didn't fill in the details...but what I meant was what you wrote.
And the reason you want night skies over Mars is the Martian Ionosphere and a less disturbed atmosphere as I understand it.
Mars like Earth has a teardropped shaped ionized wake around it (just a 100 time less potent).
I think it would be possible to use the Ionosphere for propagation in telecoms on the surface, btw.
