"Pentagon officials say they are increasingly worried that Washington's political fight over the Iraq war will dampen what has been high morale among troops fighting a tenacious and deadly enemy."

Very fine, dedicated people are in Iraq dying and being maimed for no good reason. Bush's ego ain't a good reason. To be misused as they are should be depressing.

The US is creating a cadre of disaffected Americans once they realize this has been ill-conceived, ill-executed and won't come close to accomplishing the mission. And there has been no reason in the first place.

Look to Bush for the cause. He's gotten everything he asked for, and has still lost this situation. Except for the permanent bases they're building, which will sooner rather than later go over to the Iraqis.
