I read so much "stuff" about China

Its amazing. These guys are relatively open about their plans and timetable, and even proide English translations.

What happens is that everyone reads into it what they want to, and its published or braodcast by those who want it to read that way.

Once again, China's top goals are world class comsats and defense sats, along with the world's cheapest and most reliable launchers.

Just because they plan their manned side so well and cost effectively that they could accomplish things like manned Moon missions 2023-2033 doesn't mean that we should trash the shuttle and the ISS right now. Very true the shuttle is a major dog, but you dont' want to do damage in the transition to the next manned launch system. The ticket here is to develop the CEV, man rate the EELVs, and put off the CLV until 2012, the end of shutttle operations.

Personally, I hope that the Chinese leadership is so effective in implementing democratic practices and human rights (in particular religious freedoms) that we and others will have no hesistancy in entering into deeper relations with them in many fields, including manned space flight.
