What is the most sustainable short term manned space program?
It seems to me it's the space station...
Why?
Because it binds countries with international treaties.
Because low Earth orbit is the nearest place to go into space.
Because it requires the same kind of launchers as those used for unmanned (communication satellites) and (interplanetary probes).
Because many other countries and many potential tourists haven't been in space yet.
Because it's a destination in space.
Because it enables humans to permanently occupy space.
Because it helps training astronauts to spend a long time in space, to use better spacesuits, to better understand the subtleties of weightlessness.
And because of the view.
