What gives a ring of truthfulness to all of these allegations from former insiders is that their stories match. Every time a new story emerges it seems to fit perfectly with all other previous ones. There seems to be this common thread of a president being played by the bullies at the top. Of course nobody knows for sure unless you hide in an air duct and listen in yourself but it really fits from the public representations these men give daily. Bush obviously doesn't think fast on his feet or he'd be able to compose a sentence. He gets confused easily and reverts to repetitive phrases to try to extricate himself. I simply can't picture him being in command in a room filled with quick and articulate people like Cheney. Cheney's whole life history shows a shark-like ability to take advantage of the weak and propel himself ahead.
The public policy we're seeing was never on the lips of George Bush before he began his quest for national power but it certainly was explicitly laid out by the cabal surrounding him today.
One other noticeable thing these days is the actions of Bush's father who is keeping extremely silent about his son's policies. The only public statement I've heard from him about his son is some displeasure about having to hear some of the disparaging things that have been said about Boy George. That and the fact that he's palling around with Bill Clinton makes one wonder what torn emotions are going on inside the man.
It's going to continue to get interesting.
