Cuba has budged on Capitalism, they've had no choice...There is actually a lot of Capitalism in Cuba. Without it, the Cubans would starve.
US $ is widely accepted thoughout Cuba. Cuban's who have moved to the US keep sending some of their excess US$'s to their relatives back home in Cuba so those relatives won't starve under Castro's mismanagement of the Cuban economy. Castro allows and even welcomes this capital inflow of US$, he and the "communist" government is the primary beneficiary as those gift $'s trickle down to the Cuban government. He and the country would be flat broke without this handout money from those individuals he has driven out of his country.
The only thing the US embargo achieves is to keep the capital inflow from becoming a capital outflow, although Cuba is free to use those US $'s to buy products from other countries which then are free and clear to use the $'s to buy American goods, services, and businesses.
The embargo is a left over (and foolish) policy from the Kennedy Administration.
Our quarrel with Castro centers around the fact that he is a murderer and theif. Who cares if he was a Marxist. (Oh wait...Murderer and theif describes a Marxist).

Cuba wouldn't be afloat were it not for good ol USA greenbacks.
