Point of fact, Mars may be MORE pleasant and habitable now than at any point in the past 3.5 billion years. - after all, the sun is geting warmer and Mars is approaching "springtime".
It may be that a billion years in the future, Mars finally does get warm enough for local and ephemeral liquid water at the surface.
