Space/Science » in reply to Another asteroid cutting it kind of close

This one's been in the new for some time

A good candidate for a lander with a transponder. The big question is will it hit a gravitational "keyhole" 2029 which could put it on a direct course for Earth on its next trip around in 2036. The B612 group (i think I got their name right) wants a mission to push it clear of the keyhole, a much easier proposition than pushing it clear of Earth later.

I wish the VSE included a manned asteroid landing. This baby would be a perfect candidate.
