Space/Science » in reply to my insurance didn't go up when I got a Prius

Good to hear

I heard someone say that hybrids cost more to repair so the insurance rates would be higher. It probably depends a lot on the insurance company and perhaps on where you're driving. For example, insurance premiums are reportedly higher here in Colorado than in many other states, perhaps due to increased accident rates due to snow (and bad drivers).

One factor that I have to consider with any vehicle is how well it handles in snow. A car with low ground clearance is easy to "high center" if you encounter a snow drift or heavy snow. The Honda Civic I drove when I moved here 20 years ago was easy to get high centered even though it was front wheel drive. My Honda CRV (SUV wanna be) is much better in that regard, even though it is pretty gutless. Honda has a Civic Hybrid. I wonder when they'll come out with a CRV hybrid and if it'd be worth having.
