Think Mohammed Atta, who's Florida's driver's license was directly from the Pensacola Naval Airbase. Or how about all those indirectly tied to the 9/11 terrorists who got flown OUT of the country without being questioned by the FBI while all other flight were grounded?

(Frankly, he was just covering his ass; probably under the threat of some major retaliation....you never know....the director of Pakistans' ISI was in Washington that morning, the one who had just wired OBL a hundred grand a few months before.

Hint: FBI clamps down, re-directs and witholds info from other agencies due to "National Insecurity" (or money laundering, drug dealing, illegal arms shipments, etc....you know......where all the REAL perks go to those in charge of those organizations....FBI, CIA, NSA, etc).
Whistleblowers are frowned on, their cases get locked up by a federal judge. Forget defending democracy. The top is so corrupted, it will have to fall of it's own accord.
