Whew. Not sure where to start. I'm running Norton anti-virus, along with ZoneAlarm firewall, and Ad Aware (the one that costs money.) So far, I've been all right. Ad Aware has a free version that can be downloaded and run to help scrub your system of nasties.
Unfortunately, I would imagine you've already covered this territory. You might want to locate some heavy-duty security software that can be launched from a boot CD to attack the situation. I'm backed up in two places, and hope that if something ever eats my system, I'll see it before I transfer it to a backup unit.
I assume that you're running encryption on your wireless. You can get the creeps thinking about how open you are on these things. When I pull up "networks" on my son's wireless IMac, I can see four other networks besides my own AirPort.
