The Roman Empire needed to fall.
It was a sick, perverse, and out of control civilization. No society that is built upon slave labor and kills countless thousands for sheer entertainment is going to survive very long.
It would've been better had the Greeks defeated the Romans and continued to develop along their lines. Being unified under Macedonian rule gave them a chance to be strong enough to maintain their independece.
