Major Sunnis, Shiites call Iraq vote 'fraudulent'

Groups threaten to boycott new parliament if complaints are not addressed

A faulty constitution, patched together dodging many of the more important issues, coupled with these perceptions of the elections by the two bigger factions if Iraqis, would not seem to bode well.

The "constitution" was merely face-saving window dressing, but it at least served that purpose. This last voting may well not accomplish that.

Which is too bad for the region.

(Although I'm sure there are several US military bloggers who think it was a wild-eyed success, with only a few disgruntled Muslims who are losing power and/or worship Saddam, or are from foreign countries, who think the voting wasn't done right. Those people are on their last legs, according to the bloggers, and only public attention gives them what little power they have. Because they hate freedom. And liberty. And free trade. And the American way of life with it's voting. Positively hate it so much they blow themselves up. Not that's a real temper tantrum!!! But for everyone else it's freedom, especially little Achmed learning to say "democracy" in English in his 2nd grade class in Mosul. Achmed adds that he hopes he can grow up to be like the Americans and have a car and eat Big Macs, and vote, and go to school and own his own house and stay healthy so he doesn't lose the house and car to medical bills. Little Achmed is also learning to say "praz he-sus" all on his own, which Pat Robertson says is Divine Intervention and Jerry Falwell says is God telling evangelical Christianity to bring The Word to the Muslims. Robertson says that at the point of a gun is just fine for starters, after all, not many believers were willing at first. And George Bush praises the Lord every day that he was able to bring peace and democracy to the Middle East to make the world a better place for all mankind.

Amen. And thank God for the bloggers- ya just can't pay 'em enough.)
