I remember Pat Buchanan wrote an article about 10 years ago with his plan for expanding the US. It went something like this: When Quebec breaks off we entice the Canadian provinces to the east of Quebec to join America. In his thinking the boarder would look more natural if it went all the way up to the St. Lawerence river at least.
Next we work on BC and Vancouver Is. Clearly America deserves a land link to Alaska. After that we eventually incorporate the reset of english speaking Canada into the American dream.
The next game plan is to buy Greenland from Denmark. I know it's nothing but a big glacier but hey it's melting and may someday be prime real estate.
Another idea, take Baja so we look symetrical with a peninsuela at each side. Orange County real estate developers must salivate at the thought of that! Maybe offer Mexico total forgiveness on their foreign debt as a trade off?
Maybe Iceland would want to join up sometime too? I've heard there are more beautiful women per capita in Iceland than anywhere else in the world. The theory is the Vikings took all the hottest babes in their pillaging and brought them there for safe keeping. We could be the 21st Century Vikings! Cool beans!
Disclaimer for the dense: This isn't meant to be taken seriously, although buying Greenland is a pretty cool idea.
