With the population overwhelming the resources, with over half the people in the world now never having even made a telephone call, the poor will overwhelm the wealthy.
As it is, the Bush Administration is cutting back on research funds except for NASA and the Pentagon.
And yet viruses are getting smarter, faster. Climate change will overwhelm any last-minute efforts to contain it, economies built upon the previous climates will not be able to feed more people, displaced people, the seas will lose the ability to supply enormous quantities of protein.
And there will be chaos, with tensions between rich and poor diverting the resources necessary to help humanity survive.
There ain't no future for humanity in this solar system. It's folly to project the technological advances we've enjoyed in the face of a burgeoning, starving population and the chaos of deadlier viruses and climate change.

Don't think there is one.
