Your thought processes reminds me a little of the kid who cried wolf, although this would be a bad analogy.
Let's instead use Lil Georgie.
Mom warned Lil Georgie he shouldn't be messing with the Big Hussein brothers down the block. They were mean and picked only on their own.
But Lil Georgie wanted to prove to his Mom he COULD pick on them, even though his family and friends told him not too. "This is just plain insane", Mom said. "What are you gonna do after you take Big Hussein down? You'll have all his brothers and friends after you".

But Lil Georgie goes after Big Hussein and tries to steal his money, and show him a thing or two because he has God on his side and big Hussein is after all, a bruiser in the neighbourhood. Besides, he knows that Big Hussein is just a heathen.

So Lil Georgie goes in and kicks Big Hussein's ass, and all of a sudden his brothers and friends are out to disrupt everything Lil Georgie has done or ever WILL do because they hate him. The few Lil Husseins in the group all want Big Husseins' power, so there's internal fighting among them. They target those within their families with noble ideas who had HOPED to live free. They want to rule the vacuum Big Hussein left.

So who's to blame?

There is NOTHING we can do, Tom. Iraq is about to erupt in civil war and WE did it. WE destabilized the country.
It is a MUCH MORE dangerous place now. And Bush was warned, even by his father.
Because his father had read the reports about the outcome of the offensive.
And Bush Jr. ignored them. And he even lied. Or, at least he manipulatred "intelligence" to get his own way.
And then had the nerve to lie again and smirk and arrive on an aircraft carrier with "Mission Accomplished" banners and flags flying in the background and STILL YOU SUPPORT HIS ACTIONS and lay the blame on the "insurgents"!
Geesh!! What about Lil Georgie?
