Firefox question

Having recently purged my computer of all traces of Norton, I was feeling adventurous and decided to try using Firefox as my default browser.

Only minutes into this experiment I tried to view a sports video clip and I got a dialog box saying that I need a plug-in. When I clicked the selection "install plug-in" I was advised that no valid plug-in was found. Bottom line I could not view the clip with Firefox but IE works fine

I already have all the usual plug-ins such as Windows Media, Quicktime and Real Player so I don't know why Firefox isn't finding them.

Any ideas?
