The Iranian government has hated the US for 25+ years now. Do you really think that negotiations would work with the crazies in Tehran, especially coming from the limp impotent nations of Western Europe? The neutered "men" in Paris, Berlin, Brussels, and London aren't capable of backing up their words with anything other than more meaningless words, and Tehran knows it.

Saddam didn't even break a sweat over the UN's resolutions until early 2003 when he allowed inspectors back into Iraq due to a massive US military buildup in the region. Maybe the Clerics of Tehran will begin to listen if we park 6 carrier task forces off the coast of Iran.
