No longer true with the Internet.

Anybody can campaign on the cheap. I want an absolute spending limit for Congress of $10,000 per candidate per election, with no contributions from any others whatsoever. This will PREVENT the rich from having an advantage.

My position is:
No to public financing of campaigns.
No to private financing of campaigns.
No to ANY financing of campaigns.
$10,000 absolute spending limit for Congress.
$100,000 absolute spending limit for President.

Abe Lincoln did not have the Internet, TV, radio, etc, but managed to get his point across. Candidates are newsworthy. Newspapers will report their speeches and rallies. No significant money is needed. Of course, if ONE SIDE has money to make a media blitz, that tips the scale. Let everybody start even. No money (other than the $10,000 from the candidate him/herself. This will NOT prevent very many people from running.
