Possible bird flu vaccine breakthrough

Through genetic engineering.

Bird flu aside, a mechanism for rapid production of vaccines from a recently-identified virus would be extremely useful for all types of flu. As it is now, scientists pretty much take a shot (no pun intended) at identifying which flu strains will be a problem in a given year, produce the vaccine, and hope for the best.
