Before the fellow from Vermont defected and gas prices plummeted, Bush was saying that it was a refinery shortage, "designer" gas, EPA requirement, etc., that forced the prices higher. After the defection, the Ds started an investigation, and the prices came down faster that a Republicans pants when a lobbyist enters the room.
Guess who's again saying the prices will stay up?
Bush Says Don't Expect Oil Price Breaks
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - "President Bush defended the huge profits of Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) Wednesday, saying they are simply the result of the marketplace and that consumers socked with soaring energy costs should not expect price breaks."
How do you spell "Halliburton whore"?
Now, of course, they'll say the prices were coming down BEFORE that. And those same people say Bush inherited a budget deficit.
