What Muslim Fanatics Mean by "Peace"

First of all, I hereby make it clear that NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE FANATICS. However, the moderate Muslims have been largely intimidated into silence by the fanatics, so you don't hear from them nearly as much as you should. The quoted text is in color, the emphasis is mine.

"Stop murdering our women and children. We gave the same message before 9/11. We are now saying to insult our Prophet means death. We are being attacked and an attack against our Prophet will mean death."

Abu Jihad, 43, who was born in Pakistan, added that the cartoonist and the editors of the papers should be killed.

"It is very clear:
Anyone who insults the Prophet must be beheaded.
Remember van Gogh?" he said, referring to the Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh who was murdered in 2004 for his controversial film about Islam.

"Whoever did it, bless him.

Islam is peace but you see there will only be peace when Islam is implemented across the world.

In the Prophet's time anyone who insulted the Prophet was beheaded. The same should happen now."

03 Feb 06 -- Al-Muhajiroun back on the march
Your intrepid reporter has just got back from London's manifestation of the 'International Day of Anger' called for by Sheikh al-Qaradawi. It was, to say the least, an interesting scene.
About 250 'protestors' (strictly divided on grounds of gender, obviously) started off at the Danish embassy, before moving on to the Dutch embassy around the corner. Here, we were treated to a great display of slogans and placards, the most popular being (in no particular order):
"Denmark: your 7/7 is on its way"
"Europe, you will see the real Holocaust soon"
"Europe, your 9/11 will come"
"Osama is on his way"
"Jewish media go to hell"
"Liberalism go to hell"
"Democracy go to hell"
"Freedom go to hell"
The speeches were equally fun. The throng was told that the non-believers only understand the language of bin Laden and Zarqarwi. Later, the crowd thrilled to hear that "we long to see the British soldiers bodies burn, as we burned their flag."
The whole event was not, of course, a protest: it was a massed threat, led by some familiar faces from the supposedly disbanded al-Muhajiroun (who, for an organisation that no longer exists, do seem very active). The marchers were not there demanding rights, or freedom. Quite the opposite.
Of course, we can dismiss lot as a bunch of loons. Which, of course, they are. But there is something incredibly dispriting in watching a girl who couldn't be more than six years old, coverd from head to toe in black, leading the sisters in calls for "Death to Denmark" (somewhat endearingly, when it came to "down with Europe" she couldn't pronounce "Europe" properly).
The party came to an end with prayers around the corner from Harvey Nichols, next to a casino. The assembled prayed, echoing calls from the Imam for the destruction of Bush and the EU. After an hour of calls for violence, murder and martyrdom, the assembled dispersed with the warning: "Stay in groups, for we know the nature of the unbelievers." The unbelievers dispersed to, not believing what they had just seen.
On the Picadilly line back, two boys in Keffiyah jumped on the train, just as the doors closed.
"Don't worry, folks," announced one to his fellow passengers. "No-one's got a bomb. Yet."

Peace-loving people -- in a pig's eye.
