It isn't that easy to erase history. "Gerrymandering" states to produce safe seats is as old as politics, and no more than 14 percent of House seats have changed in an election through the entire twentieth century. And if "safe seats" were a Republican monopoly, you would expect there to be a hell of a lot more Republicans in the House.
I'm not sure who the Democrats think they are convincing by trying to pretend that Republicans invented politics, but I doubt anybody over twenty-five years old is buying it.
