Geek Speak » in reply to GPS? I admit ignorance: what does it need to remember so much of?

For my book(s). Everywhere I go. And say, and do.

I really don't think it does NEED that much memory. However, on it's, and my, limited behalf -

I want it to hold a very detailed map, contour lines and all, waypoints, routes and tracks of the Pacific Crest Trail from Canada to Mexico.

And the same for the Appalachian Trail, from Georgia to Maine.

And the Continental Divide Trail from Canada to Mexico.

Those will require about 120MB each.

The same chips will hold MP3 files, of music and talking books which can be nice on rainy days or nights. And sometimes they can take yer mind off the pain on long, hard, steep slogs.

All of that, as well as the more interesting stuff. When I get up, what I have for breakfast, the flavor toothpaste I use that day, what I wear, you know, the basics.
