ambitious?

Hi Daniel

Hey nice to meet someone from Monash.

Now ambitious is hardly a word to use for someone who has pursued an out-of-field idea nearly single-handedly. A very lonely road. Obssessive is more like it perhaps?

I like the MLT because it's deterministic - doesn't have the stochastic mess that most disk theories have, though they seem to pull order out of chaos too. Prentice usually gets accused of peddling an empirical theory which gets tweaked after the fact, but that's rather unfair considering the amount of effort he puts into his predictions and the pretty ruthless error correction of his post-dictions. He doesn't hang on to a discarded hypothesis when the facts intrude.

I'd really like to hear what he thinks of the planetary zoo that's found around other stars - the eccentric orbits seem rather hard to fit with the stately shedding of Laplacian rings.
