I've been watching Mars lazily move eastward during the last month, using Pleiades as a marker. The alignment of Betelgeuse, Aldebaran and Mars that was so strikingly straight and evenly spaced earlier has become more of an arc.
These are surely the kinds of naked eye phenomena that kept ancient astronomers awake every clear night.
It's still fascinating to observe.
