So are you saying...

that the US didn't aid/support Saddam in the past?

US intelligence helped Saddam’s Ba`ath Party seize power for the first time in 1963. Evidence suggests that Saddam was on the CIA payroll as early as 1959, when he participated in a failed assassination attempt against Iraqi strongman Abd al-Karim Qassem. In the 1980s, the US and Britain backed Saddam in the war against Iran, giving Iraq arms, money, satellite intelligence, and even chemical & bio-weapon precursors. As many as 90 US military advisors supported Iraqi forces and helped pick targets for Iraqi air and missile attacks.

Global Policy Forum among many other sources.

I seem to recall that Donald has specifically said that removing Saddam was a good thing, and I don't think Bowser would deny that either (correct me if I'm wrong). Thier point - and mine and many others as well - is that Saddam was not a sufficient threat to the US to justify invasion and that the invasion/occupation/rebuilding/withdrawl was not adequately planned... as is patently obvious even if you only believe 1/10 of what is reported.

You have repeatedly made the point that Saddam did bad things, therefore the US was right to invade and topple him... however, there are a great many other despotic regimes in the world, many much worse that Saddam's, which are either ignored by the US or actively courted - like Pakistan and China. (accounts vary, but many sources indicate that up to 30 million people were killed in China in the 20th century)

If humanitarian goals were primary, Iraq would have certainly been on the list - but a fair ways down.
