Space/Science » in reply to Noah's Ark on the Moon

You have to wonder.

What would conditions on Earth have to be in order to make the Moon more hospitable.

Maybe short-term, in the case of a catastrophic event which would be over in a matter of hours, but then LEO would work.

Just don't think off-Earth colonies are viable in the forseeable future, given the support necessary in terms of medicines, vitamines, foods, spare parts, metallurgy, glues, fabrics, their precursors, their manufacturing facilities, and the skill, training and manpower necessary to use them.

Where would they get the CPUs necessary to run their equipment as cosmic rays ate them up? The glasses and or plastics necessary for shields of various types.

Most of the colony stuff I've seen focusses upon getting water and power, two necessary elements of survival, but not sufficient.

Frankly, after billions of years adapting to Good Ol' Mother Earth I don't think this species can maintain life anywhere for very long without support from Earth.

Terraforming? Earth is Terraformed, and if we can't make it here we can't make it anywhere.
