re: CBS makes "good news"

"Do you have any clue who owns CBS? Are you claiming a liberal bias in an organization owned by GE who's profits are tied to the armed conflict Bush has gotten us into?"

There is a liberal bias in all MSM. Nobody disputes this. There are kinds of reasons given for this, but no with any sense disputes this. Now are they are all as far to the left as say Dan Rather? Who knows? But something like 80% of them are voting Dem. The explanation for this are numerous. Such as only smart people vote Dem [and of course the media is filled with geniuses]. That it doesn't matter, because news people are professional and are trained to be objective. Or the news simply attracts people who are open minded [and republicans are closed minded SOBs:]. Or the gem I like is: that vast majority of Americans are Dems [it used to be this myth that if more Americans would actually bother vote in elections the Dems would win easily {I guess because Dems see themselves as lazy with little interest in being a good citizens:}].

"That's absolutely laughable. If the CBS corporate censors allow their news department to slip out unfavorable Bush stuff from time to time, it's only because of pressure from immensely popular broadcasters and celebrities or simply because if there's not some iota of truth from time to time in news broadcasts, eventually the word gets out and CBS loses all their credibility and viewership."

Yes, quite laughable. Let's look at "corporate censors"- these are who exactly? Is the job title called Corporate Censors? Or you mean the lawyers. Or perhaps are referring to the editors [like for example the panel media of editors coaching Kerry, so wouldn't make a fool of himself and might win the election?].
Anyways, the lawyer's main concern is to prevent the news organization from being dragged into court. And only way they can be dragged into court is if it can shown that they printed lies [slander]- for instance if they say a former offical said "lies, lies, and more lies" then they are generally safe from lawsuit- the only problem here is that reporters like to keep their sources secret and also there is the possiblity that source will deny making such a statement [so reporter notes or recordings help in this regard].
And for instance there was no reason why the US media couldn't show the Prophet cartoons, other than the fear that terrorists might kill or blow up someone.

"If CBS truly ran the poll, are you suggesting they not push the story no matter what the results?"

You are suggesting that everytime CBS runs a poll they publish the result? And normal procedure is for the news to use an independent polling company.
