The crisis in Africa

Right now in Africa, there are all kinds of human rights violations. People are being slaughtered and starved to death and those in charge are failing to do anything about it.

Once the US gets Iraq on its own two feet and leaves the new democracy, should we go help in Africa? Does the American public have the stomach to go in Africa? Next to Africa, Iraq will seem like a cakewalk IMO. It won’t be easy and thousands of American solders would die.

Or do we turn a blind eye to Africa. Do we stick our heads in the sand and pretend it is not happening.

As the leading world superpower, I think we have a responsibility to promote basic human rights all over the Earth. But Africa is a mess, and it will cost a lot of money and lives to help the battered continent where humanity first arisen. This is truly a cause that needs to be handed by the free world and not just America. This is a place where the UN could step up and do some real good.

Will it happen? Sadly, I don’t think so. Iran is taking the world spotlight for the UN and America. And the Free World has nothing to financially gain from Africa, but the free world could gain some humanity and self respect.

Perhaps, when the Middle East has been tamed, then Africa can be tackled.
