It's one week to go before the start of what may be
a historic, and what certainly will be an astonishingly prolific 37th Lunar & Planetary
Science Conference in League City, Texas [March 13-18].
Yet...space news websites at "MSNBC, Space.com, spaceref.com, spacedaily.com"
and "spaceflight now" haven't had one previewing news story about it so far....Not one...Nada....
I don't even know if the NASA administrator will be there at the conference.
I know science conferences aren't "sexy" and don't have the raw excitement of rocket launches and fiery atmospheric entries.
And those conference lectures I confess tend to be "dry" and often "tedious" with their science esoterica,
But without the 'science' those spacecraft missions are just hardware demonstrations and pretty pictures.
I think MSNBC, spacedaily.com & Space.com could do better.
BTW!
The very first LPSC back in 1969 was graced by the presence of the then NASA director,
Thomas Paine...If I dig through my memory banks, I think VP Spiro Agnew was there as well.
I eagerly await the results.
One week to go...and not a word from space news websites.
