"Myth 1: Emergency care is the most expensive type of health care."
I took my daughter to the ER several years ago and I had to pay out of pocket. She had a casual ECG (just lying in bed - no treadmill - no sonogram) and about 10 minutes of doctor time. Then they sent her home. No treatment of any kind and no drugs and no perscription.
I had to pay out of pocket and it cost $1800+. ERs are EXPENSIVE, in my experience.
"Myth 2: ERs are overcrowded because most emergency visits are unnecessary."
I never heard of this. Not a very popular myth, I guess.
"Myth 3: The emergency department is overflowing with uninsured patients."
I never heard of this, either. It doesn't surprise me that it is not true.
