re: New bug...

Viewing the Washington Monthly page with my WinXP SP2 desktop and IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 browser returned no script errors. Firefox 1.5.0.1 and Opera 8.52 also displayed no errors. I have Sun Java J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6 (v. 1.5.0_06-b05) installed.

The Washington Monthly page runs JavaScript. The Opera JavaScript consoles reports that the page has a statement that refers to a undefined variable: MM_preloadImages. Are you getting similar errors while loading pages that do not run JavaScript?

A possible workaround: Control Panel>Internet Options>Advanced and unselect "Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer)," "Disable Script Debugging (Other)" and "Display a notification about every script error."
