I sent The Planetary Society an email with a less than professional tone, asking them for an update on Cosmos II. And I received a reply from Louis Friedman. Sheesh!

Here is an excerpt from his reply with news of the project and with an example of Friedman's good will towards internet brats.

Thanks for your note. And surely you don't think we skipped town with the funds. But I am skipping town some to talk to potential major sponsors who can help produce the $4 million we need for this project. We have raised about 20% of the funds necessary, and like before, we will need a major sponsor to prepare the sail spacecraft mission for launch. We have begun some work to keep our team intact and plan for a second flight, but we are holding most of the money until we can begin the hardware development.

I know we need an update on our web site and will be doing that soon.
