Back then, there was the same perceived certainty, the same scientific proclamation, the same "experts" declaring how it was, and telling us we had to act now or die.

Were they right or wrong? And by how much?

The age of the article is utterly irrelevant. The behaviors are the same as they are now, with largely identical rhetoric Do I have to bring out hand puppets?
