How the native knew where the Pleiades rose and set in the sky?
I'd say from he and his ancestors watching it happen over generations,
because such knowledge was literally life and death to them for planting
and harvesting crops et al.
Sadly today for too many others, learning about the stars and planets
is an afternoon's diversion at a planetarium, if it isn't being precluded by
a laser light show with rock music.
