I just happened to see this by chance, and am glad you posted it as the history of Florida's ancient life has always intrigued me. There are times I wanted to be an archaelogist....

I know where Belle Glade, Okeechobee Blvd. (off the turnpike) and Wellington are. I go through there every now and then and gaze at the flatlands and their mystery. Now I will feel a little different knowing mastadon and giant sloths once roamed that land.

Florida. Yeah, she's been here a long time.
No mystery that the bones all accumulated in a canal, probably washed there by ....flooding...from a hurricane?
