Stanford had a AAU swim team 15 miles away. In the middle of the night the military entered their rooms with guns drawn, ordered them to pack and bruskly escorted them to a waiting plane that wisked them to Moscow. At the time they didn't realize they were being rushed to safety.
Thanks for a reminder of an event that I find very personal indeed. The coach of that team was best man at my wedding.
