Poverty and malnutrition have caused FAR more defects than radiation... In fact, I would bet that agent orange and thalidomide alone caused more birth defects than 'man made' radiation...

But anything that even sounds like it may involve radioactive material terrifies some ignorant people...

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) used to be called Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (NMRI)- The 'Nuclear' part scared people so they shortened the name- even though there was no radiation risk... It utilizes properties of the nucleus, but has nothing to do with the release of high energy particles...

Irrational fear of all things 'nuclear' really defines people that are not worth listening to... I wonder if Lindy knows how naturally radioactive Bananas are? Or how NATURALLY radioactive she is? We all have NATURALLY occurring radioactive materials in our bodies- its just a consequence on living here on Earth... And then there are cosmic rays... (Lindy, you are more protected from the cosmic rays living in sea level Forida, than living in some higer elevation- really to be truly safe you should live in a deep mine- do you know how many Muons are passing through you each second? do you know what muons do to your atoms?)

Lets use the HZ fund to send such people into deep mines!!!!!
