"THERE HAS NEVER been an age without war, not ever. Mass violence is a continual aspect of the human condition. Peace, like good weather, is always local and temporary — and what is peace anyway but the result of past victories in war and the effective threat of future war against would-be aggressors?"

"We need some films celebrating the war against Islamo-fascism in Afghanistan and Iraq — and in Iran as well, if and when that becomes necessary. We need films like those that were made during World War II, films such as 1943's "Sahara" and "Action in the North Atlantic," or "The Fighting Seabees" and "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo," which were released in 1944.
Not all of these were great films, or even good ones, but their patriotic tributes to our fighting forces inspired the nation."
Now, I think we should good propanganda/war films, but I don't think we will get them from Hollywood.
I bought Gunner Palace, though it's not really pro war- and I'm sure some could see as somewhat anti-war. But it fairly accurate and gives a view in regards to war in Iraq. Gunner Palace was low budget and can't viewed as a great film. In order to get a great film you need good acting and an understanding of the troops and the villians [the terrorists]. The problem is writers are pretty much a basket case in terms of understanding this war [or any war]- they don't understand our troops and they certainly don't understand the enemy. The measure of whether it was a great war film would be the degree in which our soldiers liked the film- not whether film critics approved of it. Our troops like our police and firemen are under valued and under acknowledged. I'm not suggesting that they should worshipped as much as the lastest hoe in hollywood, we don't need to turn them into something like Micheal Jackson or the lastest and greatest basketball star.
So here an example of a pitch. Find some soldier who got a chest full of metals- there is lots to choose from. Next from this group find a soldier who a family tradition of being in every war ever fought. So your plot line will include numerous wars and deal somewhat with changing aspect of war and the unchanging aspect of war. And maybe have the story told by Grandma. The terrorist side would depend largely [be shaped] by what the hero did- so could fill much detail here- but you could explore the aspect of what makes terrorist commit suicide and their nutty version of Islam.
