I saw the video earlier today. When they got off the hoist they went straight to the safety board and grabbed their brass off the board with huge smiles. (When you enter a mine, you have to put a brass token on a hanger just next to the shaft or adit. This is how it is known how many people are in the mine.) Taking your tag off the board is a great feeling after being underground for hours; with these guys you could see the euphoria in the triumphant way they removed their tags after being underground for days. Congratulations to the rescuers who worked 'round the clock and in difficult conditions to save these miners.

And I mourn for the one man who didn't make it and his family.
